    Default Buffering Coco before use

    Hi all,

Been reading that its important to prepare and buffer coco before use. I get the part where you run tap water through it to get rid of the peat to clean the coco but I am reading that you have soak the pots in a solution of calmag for 8hours after. This is the part I cant get my head round, if my tap water has an EC of 0.4 then why would I need to soak the coco in a calmag solution.

Anyone able to help out an old fart understand the soaking period please.

Canna coco pro plus is good to go straight out the bag m8. The only thing I do when starting in a small pot is, before planting the seed with taproot showing. Is soak all the medium. Just enough till a wee bit of run off. With water containing 2ml per ltr of Rhizo only. And Phd to 5.8.

Then....once I pot up, I will again soak all the medium. With water feed they was on in the smaller pot. Then I will water a little bit as and when required. Gradually building up to enough that gives me run off

I add calmag to the PH'd water to give the coco it's first soak these days after switching from HPS to LED.
