Default Was thinking of trying Coco, but.......?

Would like to try a coco grow, but given my water issues I'm not sure it will work. Right now the EC of my tapwater is 5.3, yes 5.3 (u/S/CM is 5340)! TDS is over 2400 PPM. Given those readings I'm thinking the only way to do it would be to use reverse osmosis or bottled water.

Plants drink 5 litres a day in late flower so perhaps not. Got a water butt for rainwater perhaps?

5.3!!! Yeah bottled water is OK for a while but gets tiresome quick.

I'd be looking at an RO unit or a rainwater butt with water that hard.

I would have thought an EC of around 0.4/0.5 out the tap would be fine

Local welll, serves about 150 houses. Last Sept. they drilled a new well 30 feet from the old one (which was failing), they hit brine, which migrated up the well shaft and contaminated the old well, also destroyed my garden, as well as my greenhouse and outdoor grows, not to mention my water heater! Didn't have drinkable water until January. After plugging and then blowing up the new well shaft it took 4 months to purge the contaminants from the old well (salt, Boron, Arsenic, Copper, Iron, and Manganese). I live right next to a river/slough (salt water) that empties into San Francisco Bay. They just drilled a new well about 2 months ago and hit some decent water, but it has not been certified for drinking yet, so they can't use it until the State approves the water.

Sounds like all kinds of a ball ache....
RO system is probably the best way, if you rig the system up using a pump on a float switch you could keep a full water butt of plain RO water ready with another water butt holding your nutrient mixed water.
