    Default UK police using drones.

Not sure if anyone else has discussed this.
Soo just over a week ago a friend spotted a rather large drone hovering over his house... The drone came down quiet close to the property, and upon being notified my friend soon located the pilot.
Turns out to be police. My friend then questioned the police officer over his use of the drone.
    The officer refused to reply.
My friend, being a registered drone pilot himself then advised the officer that he was in breach of the UK drone regulations, and he was not to fly the drone over civilians or populated areas, as stated by the CAA. He told the officer he was a registered drone pilot and the drone should be at least 50m away from civilians and there houses...
The office promptly landed the drone, packed up and got the hell out of there...
Few days later my friend gets a rather unwelcome knock at the back door at 5.30am with a big red key .

As he had confronted an officer a few days earlier, he had wisely moved his grow....
And they found nothing at his property...

Apparently the drone has the same camera as they use on the helicopter, including thermal imaging ...

Has anyone else has any experience of this?
If not .... Keep your eyes to the skies....
    We are being watched.....

So I take it your friend will be looking compensated for the trouble and ofcourse a new door.

Not just the police, thieves are also using the things to spy

I only thought police could enter your property if a known person is hiding inside other than that they would need a warrant. If this did infact happen your friend is a bit of a pillock to draw attention to himself by questioning the police especially if he is growing. JMO

I believe they have a power of entry to to arrest a person for an indictable offence?

Just did a quick Google and one of the ways of blocking thermal detection is using foil or Mylar blankets. So does that help in growers situations where a Mylar tent is being used?

AFAIK, FLIR can only detect the temp of outside walls, not objects inside the room?

Not to mention hot air being vented.

Bastards! Your friend had a lucky escape there. I didn't think they'd be allowed to do shit like that but I guess they can try get away with whatever they want
