Default Did I over decarb my weed?

    Heyo!

I think I F'd up my weed while trying to decarb.

I used my RV oven, to decarb 1 ounce of weed. If your familiar with RV stoves, they are inadequate for cooking evenly.

I intended to bake 1 ounce of coarsely ground weed and set my oven to 245F (118.3C) for an hour, low and slow.

The weed was in a foil pan with foil over the top as a lid. I read this was good to keep Terpenes from over cooking and burning off?

Anyway, I rotated the pan at 30 minutes to address the oven's uneven cooking and noticed the temp had increased to 255F (123.8C), so I stopped cooking at the 50 minute mark and letitcool, keeping the lid on.

When I pulled the foil cover off, my weed was so brown, that I'm afraid I ruined it.
The consistency of it was still very soft and so I'm somewhat hopeful.

I added the 1 ounce of brown decarbed weed into a 1 liter Mason jar of 190 proof everclear to create the tincture.

My question is, how do I know if I destroyed the weed during the decard process?

    Thanks,

GEORGE is possibly the best one to answer this?

My personal opinion would be to make a spliff from it & see how it is

You probably lost the cbd it has a relatively low vaporization point, about 150f. If you want the tincture for sleep and intractable pain you may have got it about right, higher temps produce a breakdown product the name I can't recall. If you wanted a good high staying at or below 220 is best. Putting your weed in a sunny window for a couple days would be better if you only have an RV oven, just use plastic wrap over the pan.

    Thanks,
I don't think you destroyed it, but I have never done it that long. Just go on with your process, and then do some testing when you done, starting with low doses and work up to larger one's, until you get the stone you want. Be careful with your doses though, you can take too much. On my last batch, I took 105mg and I must say that was A little too much. I was very unconfurtable for about 3 hours of the stone. I cut my pills back to 40mg, which two of those are just right, for the buds I did. Now the strength depends on the strength of the THC in the weed. The higher the THC in the buds, the smaller amount you will need to get where you want to be. Let us know how it works out when you finish.

I have never covered mine up, just put them on partchment paper and cook for 45 minutes at 115C or 240F, you don't want to cook any higher or longer than that next time you do it. But I think A little over want effect it too bad, you still have some good stuff probably.

    Thanks J!

I'll find out in 30 days or so. I'm glad I have the "ounces to spare" so to speak. Had I paid $3-400. for an ounce and ruined it, that would be sad! #Greatful

I have been doing tincture for over a year now and I think you still have something potent
If you put the material into ever clear I would filter it
The extraction process is quick and the longer you leave it the more undesirables you end up with in your tincture
Highly recommend buying several oven thermometers and a timer to calibrate your oven
    I decarbed at 240f (115c) for 40 minutes
There are variations on time and temp but anything around these times and temps should work

I make infused coconut oil and simple syrup and scrub out as much of the cannabis taste as possible

I agree with the potency still from your toasted buds.

And +1 with the coconut oil infusion. I just let the decarb happen under the coconut oil as it is heated in a milk pan on the hob in the kitchen. As the buds decarb, it bubbles, so I just let it go slow and when the bubbles stop, I know it's done. So the X degrees for Y minutes for us is just a rough guideline. Sometimes I have to let it cook for about 3 hours, sometimes less.

I'm just curious about people's opinion on the plant (chlorophyll) taste in their edibles
Spent some time researching filtering and want to know if eliminating the plant taste is worthwhile
