A lot of things used to be true, then times change. My first harvest was Northern Lights. Advised not to top as it's a single cola plant. Single cola sure enough. 15" to 16" tall and 4" to 5" in diameter. Wet weight 16oz per cola. Was too stoned to even think about weighing them dry.

All the NL grows I see now are not single cola. They can't have all been topped but they all branch out the way most other strains do.

I found the NL to prefer FIM but that was RQS NL #2 Auto. close to the original, all 5 seeds same pheno or damn near too eachother.

I'll have to try to get some more and do a single cola for comparison next time

I top after 3rd node EVERY single time and pull minimum 5oz dry per plant which was unheard of 10 years ago.
I'm even gonna go and self pollinate a couple for seeds pretty soon.

I've grown many 14, 16 and even a 24-oz auto with nothing more than a fim.

These were all over 12 oz two of them were a pound one was 14 oz.

Well I guess that pot on the railing is about a 3-gallon plastic pot.
