Default Wtf happened to my bulb?

Basically I went to switch on my 600w hps after it had been off for about 8-12 hours, flipped the on switch, went to watch it fire up and close the tent as usual then it went out almost immediately say 5 seconds.. Gone back to inspect after 20 minutes and the bulb seems to have filled up sort of brown in some section? Anyway I'll let the pictures do the talking Click image for larger version.

Yes I have 2x 600w hps, shall I switch bulbs over tomorrow and see if the same happens? I've been having problems with bulbs recently, 1 from online was a dud and had a broken connection inside so got a new 1 from the local hydro shop, not sure if the 1 that has done this pictured above is the new bulb or the 1 that come with my other dud bulb as I did order 2 from the same place, wouldn't surprise me if they were both f'd

This lamp was also plugged into a new surge protector thingy from b&q rated for 3000w so that shouldn't be an issue? All fans connected to same surge extension stayed on

I never had any issues but after last harvest I knocked the glass a little moving things about so thought meh order 2 new ones just to be safe, couldn't see any cracks in the glass or anything but went with same bulbs, same supplier reputable sunmaster bulbs about £35 each a pop and I've had nothing but issues with them, I'll dig out the broken one tomorrow to show you what I mean, of course I noticed after 28 day return policy as was only using 1 lamp for veg

If it was new it's faulty or you damaged it. But yeah you need to replace it

if you are getting through that many lamps i would look at testing the gear feeding the lamp (ballasts, cabling, etc) for faults, or if possible try switching other parts the same way you have been with the lamps and see if the problem stops.
