    Default Cal mag

Hi all so im starting a new grow tomorrow.
    2 blue dream
    1 nl
    1 big bud
All auto, so anyway i usually start on small feeds at 3 week ish with photo plants
So im going to probably do the same with my autos im using a 360 watt qb.
And i know there is a 50/50 chance I'll need to add extra cal-mag could i just feed a small amount at week 3 or 4 to try to avoid deficiencies, in this area ??

Seems like I'm always about a week too late introducing Cal mag when I grow. I usually use it first around 6 weeks in and I use reverse osmosis water. Sometimes I foliar feed and sometimes I just feed it right into the soil. Probably shouldn't need any till about flower I would think.

Mag def will be pale veins on the leaves.

Cal def will be spotty orange blemishes.

In soft water I foliar spray autos with an Epsom salts solution virtually daily from about 2 weeks to early flower (circa 4 weeks) and add tiny amounts of calmag in every water until mid flower.

Depends on the water and nutes your using in my experience...Some nutes formulated for soft water will have extra calcium and magnesium added so shouldn't have too many issues...Some plants will have an higher demand, some compost & nute combos will require some supplementation...Best plan is to supplement cal-mag as a precaution it wont do any harm....I like to foliar feed every couple of weeks during veg and @ around 2 weeks from going 12/12 on photoperiod plants..

    Im using Biobizz light mix
    Biobizz grow and bloom
    Plant magic root Stimulant
My water here is hard but i don't adjust ph has i believe the soil sorts that for me. Im just a bit concerned about this cal mag deficiency that could happen.

Much lower chance of calmag deficiencies in hard water, mate.

If anything, trying to compensate will induce excesses which look very similar.

I've been growing for nearly 10 years, I started with my normal tap water and chose to grow in coco. Hard water and coco don't go well, my background EC is 0.7 to 0.8. I always had issues with limescale buildup in everything the feed touched. I could set my watch to when the issues would start in flower, didn't matter what brand coco or nutrients, I would always get the same degradation in the leaves.
The mineral water should be OK to use, if you're going to be growing in dirt, as this will do the donkey work with regards to the water quality. I'm slightly biased towards Reverse Osmosis water with soft water nutrients because I've removed the issues I once had by making the switch. It wastes a lot of water though, like 60%+
Getting back to the question, I would add Cal/Mag to every other feed in soft water, all through the grow. Do you have a PPM/EC meter? You can test the bottled water to find out the PPM/EC and have a better idea

Hi thanks for reply no i don't have a ec meter due to me growing in soil, i was having heat problems with hps bulbs so switched to a qb which has sorted heat out im now trying to get my head around the calcium issues that can come with these board's ???? Im ready to start a grow but im holding back till i read more about cal-mag issues.
Would you say the bottled water is soft water ???.
