Default Question on jar cure RH

    Hey friends,

Question on burping while jar curing.

I did my dry cure different than previous and used a large moving box with lines of string stitched across the top, making six rows of string to hang the branches from the inside of the box. I was finally able to get a long slow dry with this method.

After about 13 to 14 days the plants were dry enough where a skinny branch would snap. So pleased with this process.
So I trimmed everything and placed in jars, threw in a small humidistat in each and some jars were 67% others lower like 58%.

Do I have to burp until I get to the stable RH of 58% to 62% and then quit burping? Some jars needed only a week some reached their optimal RH sooner.

    I'm doing this across 7 - 32oz Mason jars.

Do I just keep the jar closed till at least 2 weeks or up to 30 to 45 days for best cure?

    Thanks,

It might just be my luck m8, but once my stems snap. It gets de stalked. N rammed in jars. Over next feew days....I empty on to stolen mcdonalds trays. Just for a few minutes. N then back into jars. A few days of this. The stuff is i a nice smoke.
No need for these little humidity jobbies inside the jars. For me anyway.
I have not opened my jars in about a month. N the stuff is lovely. No mold. N nice n crisly n frosty.

Others might have problems, so wait on more advice. But Im happy doing what I have been doing for years

ime, it never happens that all the stems snap correctly at the same time. Smaller buds dry out quicker than larger buds. There's a degree of guesswork as to when the burping starts. I go by the average dryness.

They are outwardly dry when they go into the jars. After 24 hours of being in a closed jar, moisture has moved from inside the bud to outside and they seem damper than yesterday. 24 hours of having the jar open dries the outside again.

At first, the buds stick together like green snot. You'll know that the burping is done when they tumble like marbles and don't stick together.

To try and answer your question, I would burp them and store them by individual requirements to within the 58-62% rh range.
Either way, +1 for the dry trimming

Long ago when I lived and grew in Humboldt County drying and curing was simple, the temps never got much above 65 degrees, the RH where I lived was so high it took a good month to 6 weeks of drying (hanging in a room) before you could trim and "seal-a-meal" the buds for long term storage. Of course back then, no one worried about the exact RH, it was done by touch/feel. Now I live/grow in a place with lower RH and much higher temps. The jar/burp/boveda packs works great to get tasty weed that keeps for a long time.
