    Default Using an oversized filter?

I'm about to order an AC infinity S4 to replace an 8" rvk.

I want to hook the S4 to an 8" filter as it's already in the loft and I'd prefer not to buy a smaller filter unless I really have to.

If that's a bad idea, what is likely to go wrong?

It'll be fine with regard contact time... not sure how much resistance it would cause though?

That's what I'm dubious about, the resistance. Then again, no real ducting resistance to start with, just the filter.

    8" wall plate in ceiling > 8" elbow > 8" to 4" reducer > fan > 4" to 8" reducer > 8" filter.

Intake being passive, and going from 8" to 4" with a reducer, I'm not sure how you're going to run into any trouble. It's akin to running your 8 inch fan at low power.

Going from a 4 up to an 8 inch fan would be a different story.

    Science shit, yeah?

Order placed. We'll find out when it's hooked up. Thankfully there's 8" to 4" reducers available on the bay.
