What did I do today?

I've had a project running for quite some time, take my 21 year old Ford Puma & modernise it

I added Bluetooth by adding an Android head unit - which gave me the whole Android experience on a flip out 7" screen...

But I still fancied a reversing camera!

Today I fitted one!

Originally I thought that I would have to run a wire from front to rear of the car, under the carpets & rear seats... didn't fancy that!

But I ran across a wireless option some time ago...



It really is as simple as to hack into the reverse light power (to power the transmitter & camera), connect it to the camera



Stick the camera to the rear of the car & connect up the other end to my head unit!

... a few hours later & my 21 year old car has modern technology





Total cost? Around £15 (My android head unit has camera inputs!)

Only niggle is that, as it stands, I have to swap the android to camera... but, bar that, everything works as it shoud do & only shows a rear pic when in reverse... but that's just a software niggle, there will be a way around it!

My wife used to say the same... but I explained to her 'module' thinking, after all, it's just lego, nothing really complex. Hardest bit was finding how to run the cam wires to the outside of the car

I actually want a private plate but the one I want would 'make the car appear younger', so I can't have it on this car

bought my main one years ago. 5 character with 1 number. funnily enough the number 1. for me, its perfection. still to get the car to put it on though.
got a few others also on retainer but they were for giggles and were pretty cheap. got some quality ones too.

Hit 200k miles? Nah, this one has nearly hit 40k LOL - the other puma I had, it's engine died at around 80k

This car's just really a toy, the wife's Yaris takes the hit of mileage.

...and, whilst I hate to say it, last year it only did about 90 miles - that's lock down for you
