If you're growing a long-flowering plant indoors, and want to "hurry it along" one of the best things you can do is reduce the light period so your plant is getting longer nights. For example you could give your plants 13 or 14 hours of darkness each day (11/13 or 10/14 schedule) to hasten the plant. It "thinks" winter is coming and finishes up in less time.

I don't know about theory but i have had my lights on an 11.5 hours of light and 12 hours of dark for the last 4 years and i found the only problem i had was some sativa and sativa hybrids started ripening too soon , i think it was lemon haze that really didnt like it, i did manage to stop this problem by adding in more intense light during veg , interestingly at 10 on and 12 off i had a few issues with rot but that could be down to the stoner in chief not washing his hands after potting up.

    Good luck m8

im on 12/12 myself during the hotter months but in winter i like a 13/11 cycle. i reduce 15mins of light every few days in last couple week to bring it to 12/12 around about the time i start tapering down nutes ready for the flush.

for me, i seem to get increased resin production in the 24-48hours darkness before chop.
indica or indica dom strains tend to benefit the most from experience..

imo, the more light the better during the grow. if it ever is too hot, i prefer to dim the light ballast and keep light schedule the same.
