Default LED equivalent to 600w HPS

    Hello all,

If I was looking to replace my HPS with LED, which panel would you recommend? Obviously going to cost a bit I've got 4x 600w HPS atm, but I only run them at 250w each (too hot to run at full power), and HPS not ideal for veg. Current setup uses 1 light per 2 plants, would ideally I would like I keep.

LED definitly the way to go, as the spectrum is far better from what I've read, and obviously they run a lot cooler.

    Thanks guys

Sorry just to add, I run at 250w for veg, then I boost to 400w each in flower (and this is where I struggle with heat) can never run them at the full 600w.

Been researching a bit, tempted to get 2 x hlg 300l rspec to replace 2 of the HPS, and keep the other 2 HPS for a bit of heat (and replace other 2 when funds allow)

Anyone else running the hlg 300l rspec ?

    Cheers guys

A 260w hlg is equiv to 500w hid apparently, so maybe about 300w dependin on manufacturer

Tbh I think they would be far more efficient than running HPS @ 400w mate, and it's going to help massively with heat issues I get, 2x LED panels to start and when funds allow I'll buy another 2.

Yeh mate, it should eliminate your heat issues, on cold days I struggle to keep temp up if anything. I've used hps in mixed light grows but opted for full led now.

Ahh right - thats crazy it makes that much difference to heat? Might keep a HPS or 2 then. The way the LED tech is going looks like HPS will be on their way out in a few years.

    Cheers bud

I run a HLG 350R diablo. It's the equivalent of 600w hps. It's also dimmable.
    I am loving mine.

Thanks Blue, did you replace a HPS with yours? Any main differences you have found?

I can only run my HPS @ 400w atm due to heat - so it sounds like a huge advantage - more light/less heat

Awesome - whatever I buy needs to be dimmable for different stages.
