My first auto grow was done 12/12. For security reasons. I didn't realise how much 12/12 would affect them. They took forever. I chopped after 16 weeks and they could have gone a few more weeks. They yielded well enough. The 3 autos weighed in at 297g and there was room for 4. 315w cmh.

Next time, same strain, smaller pot, 2L Pepsi Challenge, was 24/0. 315w cmh vegging lamp. Was a bit further on than the 1st grow when I chopped at 12 weeks.

If you want maximum yield psf per year, then 24/0. 12/12 for 16 weeks used less leccy. The sweet spot will be a balance between how long you can wait and how much leccy you want to use.

This thread is great. Very useful. I have been trying autos for the first time having previously only grown "normal" plants. Out of habit and probably ignorance I have been using the standard 18/6 for vegging but from the contributions here I can happily change this to 20/4 and improve my grow rate and possibly harvest.

    Thanks guys.

I was pleasantly surprised with my 3 autos. I made some mistakes and got 1.5oz psf which equalled my best ever photo grow.

2oz psf has been often achieved. Can just about get 4 harvests a year with autos. That gives my 7sft cupboard the potential to average an ounce a week. Unthinkable not so many years ago.

HPS is fine, relatively a nice and gentle light nowadays so as not to overdo DLI on autos

It's still "Unthinkable" for me today.

..."rh"... Relative Humidity? Now that's interesting.

    Higher temps equals lower RH.

With modern auto's in coco and 3gallon fabric pots it's easy to achieve 5oz/plant these days,I managed 8.5oz from a gorilla glue auto last year and I've seen some other guys pull more.

I only ever grow auto's and 20/4 seems to be the sweet spot for me. With 18/6 I definitely saw a lower yield in my plants but I haven't noticed much of a difference between 24/0 and 20/4
