If you can get yourself some food grade H2O2 it's usually about 28% to 30% food grade hydrogen peroxide. 2 ml in every bucket every time you add nutrients.

Getting the temperature of your root zone down will help. You can go buy a case of liter bottles of water throw a bunch in the freezer and then drop a frozen bottle in each reservoir to get you through the hot periods.

There are a few other methods for dealing with this and I'm sure others will chime in soon.

I also prefer to have high airflow and the smallest most diffuse bubbles as possible. Sometimes guys have no problems growing until their plant gets to a big size and it craps out, usually that is due to not enough airflow from the air pump.

When I was running deep water culture I used to use a 40 l per minute air pump for two buckets. 40 l per minute is always the highest rating and I was shooting for 10 to 15 liters per minute in the bucket.

    Some nutrients discolour the roots.

If it's root rot, it will stink when you lift the lid. A 'something has died' bad smell. Another sign is that roots will easily come away in your hand with a gentle tug.

I got mild root rot 3 weeks into my two Oxy Bucket grow. I caught it early and here's what I did.

I cut out the worst of it leaving as much root as possible. Connected air stone up to ozone generator and gave both containers 30 minutes to try to kill all the mould on roots and in container. Emptied tanks and gave them another 30 minutes ozone after filling them with fresh tap water. Made up new solution of 3 ml per litre of Shogun Hydrowgrow A and B and 0.2 ml per litre of Shogun Katana roots. The Katana helps new roots to develop rapidly PH is 1.75 and EC 2.00. The EC is at the top end recommended on Shogun instructions. Also added 2nd air stone to each container. A four inch lat stone an a one inch round stone giving a fine stream of bubbles.

That was 3 weeks ago and the roots are now plentiful and white with no mildew/rot at all.

hi guys i think its a mixture of a touch of root rot from heat and a slite deficiency and I recon I was keeping ph a bit too low at 5.5 so it want sucking some nutes up I'm going to keep it at 5.7 from now on

when I looked today roots seemed a bit better new growth and more growth on top,

it was due to its 4-week feed and water change

so what I did was I put air stones In the spare buckets with fresh water and hydrogen peroxide for an hour and poured some of it from the top through net pots

then i removed bad root and gave am a shower with fresh water from the showerhead

then I put em back in clean fresh dcw buckets with the right amount of peroxide and realised I got some silver bullet root protection stuff I got free with oxypots id forgot about so put some of that in removed bad leaves and done some Low stress training

that was this morning and now they seem to be doing really well and picked right back up got some ice bottles as well to cool water

while i cleaned everything else and sterilised ph`ed new water to 5.7 and put in nutes in clean bubblers then rinsed of roots

More air in each bucket and each H202 should probably sort you for the rest of your grow.

no, but i will read that thanks re air

I have quite a biggish air pump outside of grow with 4 outlets it's about 20L a min so I could get two more stones and run the other two into buckets all the pipes are all black to keep light out the pots are proper hydro oxypots all black so should not be letting light in

I used to use the hard black plastic drip lines for my air lines, they were strong enough to hold the weight of a bucket set on them and still pump air. I was always moving buckets so it was kind of mandatory for me.
