When recreational cannabis sales first became legal in Massachusetts there was a chronic problem with vehicle customer parking and traffic issues at the existing dispensaries. As a result some towns has to assign police officers at these sell shops simply to direct traffic. They wanted reimbursement for these police services.
Since then retail recreational weed shops in Massachusetts have exploded and are everywhere. A few shops in Massachusetts now even offer home delivery for weed just like you were ordering pizza! While the need for dedicated traffic cops has all but dissappeared now, some towns are apparently still trying to cash in on the new industry despite the outragious high tax on cannabis sales.
