    Default Breeder THC Levels

    Hi Everyone,
I bought a variety of seeds from a well-known seed company (a sponsor here) based on advertised THC levels in the 33% range. Multiple strains from two different breeders, but both are advertising these high THC levels that seem extreme. I don’t want to violate any rules by mentioning the seeds or the seller, but how much can I rely on those stated THC levels? Is this like flowering time where they say “8 weeks” and I run “12 weeks”? Did I just succumb to marketing hype? Should I write “sucker” across my forehead for the rest of the night?

How reliable is this information if it’s a reliable seed bank?

I don't think there's anything wrong with sharing the seed bank and breeders.

I would be more interested in what other growers thought of it online. THC levels don't mean everything.

This forum is good about protecting your right to give your opinion. What strains from where?

I always wonder if that number is from the highest tested plant of hundreds. Saying up to 33% is pretty wide open for interpretation.

    Cheers,

    Thank you!

This is for Herbies Grandmommy Purple. According to the site, “ One of Herbies Seeds’ most potent new strains, Grandmommy Purple flaunts a sky-scraping 33% THC content! Her indica dominance will put you straight to sleep in one hit like an old-fashioned bedtime story and a comfy quilted blanket of purple smoke – just like Grandma used to make.” No smoke reports out there, and this just seems like a tall tale.

The other strain was Mimosa Orange Punch from Barney’s Farm. “ With an impressive citrusy orange pungency, the Mimosa X Orange Punch super strain drives a hard bargain! Along with improved grow times below 60 days and indoor heights as low as 70cm (27.5”), this cannabis strain also produces the most luxurious, ultra-dense buds, whose THC levels test at a whopping 30%! Put your feet up and puff away on a delicious candy orange, mimosa-esque smoke for a friendly euphoria that will instantly dry your tears.”

The herbies actual seed brand just released so there will be no diaries/smoke reports etc yet,I know as I've looked for the Purple juice auto that I'm growing just now.
I think those THC levels must be under optimal conditions,we will never know without lab reports how close the actual THC is to the claimed THC levels.

As scoot says, these figures are from optimal conditions... highly unlikely you will be able to hit that 33%... but, grown well, they should easily be 25% plus.

Jingo has grown out for breeders before & has had stuff tested so he may be the best person to answer

High thc strains need more light. If they don't get enough light, they can be weaker than a medium strength strain.

I learned that with AK47 grown with 37.5w hps. Quoted as 20% thc, it was a weaker smoke than my usual 15% thc strain grown with 37.5w hps.

Interesting I've never heard that before! Where did you find that bit?

I was always under the impression that the THC was made during the Dark period. More cloudy tricks and no yellow is suppose be peak THC of the strain. JMO

Then again on second thought, an auto doesn't get any dark period, so what is up with that?
