I like halloween and wish nowadays it was at the very least how it was for me in the late 80s early 90s.

When I was in Grammar School back in the 50's we Did halloween Like Crazy. We had A big Carinvial up on the school grounds ever year, From all kinds of games, to go cart and midget cart ridding around, Cake Walks and all kinds of things. I miss those days.
Today I think it would be call unlawful assembley. haha

Early dinner, and now it's time to dawn your costume. You're a kid, you love playing dress up.
Now you're walking the neighborhood with your friends and family. This is the best wage you'll ever earn. "Trick or Treat" you mumble through your mask. In payment, candy. Sometimes a handful, sometimes a single bit, if you choose the richer neighborhoods, full size candy bars.
3 hours later and you're on the living room floor sorting your haul with care. Being careful not to mix up the regular M&M's with the peanut butter ones. Trading your siblings or friends. They love Twizzlers, you're more into Snickers. Deals are made.
You eat yourself sick for just one night. The one night when mom and dad don't care if you binge junk until you have a stomach ache. It's tradition you know. You go to sleep next to 15 pounds of hard-earned treats that last for months.
Then you age out. You grow up. You have kids and it's your turn to make the magic happen. You're either stuck at home passing out candies to kids and cold beers to your neighbors or you're walking the streets wearing a costume because your 2 year old demands that Elsa needs her sister Anna for the evening.
It's just pure joy.
No one talks about the Pagan origins or how the costumes and fires were supposed to scare off ghosts. It's just costumes and debauchery.
Best part, when you're in college, every Halloween party is packed with Slutty Nurses, Slutty Cops, and once I saw a chick dress up as leftovers and she just wrapped herself in saran wrap.

I think Halloween was Irish originally. I prefer bonfire night, the night when we celebrate the prevention of a terrorist plot or celebrate almost bringing down the government. Which ever way you're so inclinedI never understood halloween. Guess its a US thing
