Heating a 1.2mx1.2m tent
Hi everyone the colds drawing in quick now so looking at getting some heating on in the tent as I'm dropping down to 18 lights off now.
In the past I've used bigger tents so used a small oil heater rad, now it's only a 1.2x1.2 I was wondering if I could get away with using a 80w strip heater tube. And would it be sufficient to run through winter. Or best to stay with a 500w oil
Thanks in advance

The strip heater might be enough,I use a small oil rad outside my tent.

I use a 50w and it makes no difference in a tent. I use oil rads on low. Just watch the lights on em if you do photos

Tube heaters are good but be careful if they need to run constantly, as they don't last all that long, just my experience.
A 100w tube heater, for example, will consume same electricity as a 500w that is switching on for 12min per hour. The oil holds that heat for while in between switch ons.
A human gives off around 100w of heat, just so you can roughly see how much heat you may need.

Hi,
I generally just run my lights at night during winter, that way during the day the temps in the house and tent sit about 20c, and at night they are around 26c.
I have used a stip light before which are handy thou, and you can just install on in the top of tent.

Thanks for the replies just a little edit I'm currently doing 18/6 on 4pm off 10am and those 6 hours in midday are hitting 18. Think I'm just going to be safe and use the oil rad

You could heat the room that the tent is in. If there's a central heating radiator in the room, let the c/h do the heating, that's its job.
