Default Question on hours of darkness for larger buds

    AyeO!!

So I was reading a few different articals on increased or decrease of light hours for larger buds when flowering. Indica does better with starting with more light, Sativa better as well, just a less number of hours of light.
There is a lot of info on it, but there is more individual stories that research.

The articles states benefits from using 13 hours of light with indica and 10 hours of light for dominant Sativa strains for larger buds.
The lighting is gradully reduced to get the Sativas down to 10 hours of light from 11.5 hours
The lighting is gradully reduced to get the Indica down to 11 hours of light from 13 hours.

Just courious if any inside soil growers have seen success from this process. I'm using full spectrum LEDs, soil - FFOF, RH 55%, Temps = Day 80F night 72F, watering 2 times a week, averaging 1 to 2.5 quarts of RO water per feeding, Botanicare line of nutrients. Good air circulation - 8" exhaust, 6" intake, and fans inside tent for good air movement.

Never done it bud, always gave em 24 hours of light right up until I flipped em to 12 on 12 off.
I have heard of the Gas lantern light cycle 12 hours of lights on 5.5 of lights off 1-hour lights on and of 5.5 lights off. Its supposed to be a way to save on power and still keep photo period plants in veg.

Thanks for the replies. I am going through with it for now. I'm doing a (almost daily) journal and thought this could be a good experiment to try. It won't kill em, its more work with adjusting the timers etc., but its not that big of a deal to give it a shot.

i have wondered about this. tagging along for the ride.
in nature lighting is always slowly transitioned. when creating an indoor space for a plant we typically aim to get as close of an environment to their outdoor preferences as we can, so i wondered if they would benefit from a gradual transition.
i am not confident enough to try it yet but i definitely want to hear about it.

Ok, I guess I got lucky and found three posts about 14/10, 13/10 etc. I should have copied the link, but says google C3 plant (Cannabis) and it discusses the value of light/darkness. So, I will now take it to a 12/12 and be done with it. Yep, I'd say I got lucky running into those posts.

I look at it like this. In Colombia it is 12 12 all year round. Must be reason for that.

    This.
C3 means it doesn't require darkness for photosynthesis.
Photoperiod Cannabis does use the duration of the dark cycle to regulate the release of flowering hormones. When the plant senses 12 hours darkness it starts the process and begins transitioning to flower

NO SELL, NO SMELL, NO TELL!!!
