    Hello IceCalibur,

I believe my tap water here heavily chlorinated and dirty. only 1 time I filled up my humidifier with tap water and that was it because the next hours I noticed a lot of chlorine like white dusts all over the tent and some dirt in the humidifier. As a newbie grower that worried me a lot and since then I use bottled water for my feed and humidifier.

    Should I get a device like this Adwa Ad31 Ec/Tds/C ?
I have the biobizz calmag but havent used any of it yet.

    thank you.

The forum seems to trust Apera and BlueLabs EC meters. I've yet to see anyone speak ill of either brand.
I've the Apera. Doesn't seem to budge very much when I check the calibration every coupla weeks.

    Cheers iwannagrow,
    B

Hi iwannagrow, oh that does sound like dodgy water lol..well I'm not sure if it's available to you where you are, but here in the UK most of us can check with our water suppliers online for a water report.

If you don't have this option then absolutely yes, I would recommend an EC pen just to see where you're at with your water and to then you'll know how best to proceed.

I can personally recommend the Bluelabs, but as a cheaper option you could also go for the ETI pH Pal Plus or the Essentials EC pen

If you want a cheaper option the vivosun ppm/ec pen does the job

I'm sure it is dodgy nobody drinks it around here. I will try to get information about it.

So bottled water is not too good for plants at all? Should I give some biobizz cal-mag next week?
Just had a quick look on the stores. I might get Essentials EC pen or VIVOSUN TDS Tester 3-in-1 like @V8budding said. These two are available in my country

    thank you.

    Hello V8budding,

thanks for your advice. VIVOSUN TDS Tester 3-in-1 available in my country. It is very cheap here, it could be my first choice for first ec tds meter.

    thank you.

It's not so much that bottled water is no good, it's just that the one you've shared is basically considered 'soft water', and it's lacking in calcium, which can cause issues.

My thinking is..if you have the chance to mix up your bottled water with your tap water (depending on your tap water of course), then you will be spending less and won't need to buy as much bottled water and you won't need to buy any calcium either.

An RO system may even work out cheaper for you in the long run if your tap water is really bad.

I completely understand thinking about long run efficiency and cost.

For this grow they are only in 8L pots and 2L of water for each in every 3-4 days gives plenty of run off.
In the veg stage the humidifier was the big water drinker 5 litres a day. So when I start my 3rd grow I need to use my tap water and might need a RO system.

I'll get 120x60x180 for my next start to grow 2 plants again.definitely getting an EC Pen so we can test out tap water here, another grow light and keep exact record about feeding and other information to diagnose possible problems better.

Current one is 60x60x160 and I've tried to give them a lst shaping them like 30x60 each to fit in tent, without big success compared to previous grow.
I'd like to grow 1 feminized in the 60x60x160 and 2 autos in 120x60x180 for next grow.

thanks for your time and advices IceCalibur.

You're welcome and I enjoy offering my help to polite and respectful members like you iwannagrow

Sounds like you're on the right track, and on your next grow, maybe opening a diary here on the forum would also help, it's great for looking back at things you did both right and wrong, to help you in future grows... it also comes with the added bonus of having experienced members following along and offering advice if/when requested
