“Less than ideal” conditions… diminished growth potential or just delayed?

I haven’t grow long enough or have the groom resources to perform a side-by-side comparison to answer my question. I always wondered whether a “less than ideal” groom temperature or light intensity diminishes quality overall, or simply delays plant growth in veg or flower stages?
For examples:
Will my plant eventually mature and see its full potential at 70 F. vs. 78 F.?
Will my plant eventually mature and see its full potential whether my light is 19 inches or 14 inches away from the plants?
Any experience to share from our seasoned growers?

I've done lots of cold grows, <16'C. I've also done 1 grow in ideal conditions. Same everything except for location with the ideal grow.

No difference apart from yield. In ideal conditions the yield was 30% higher. tbf, I probably fluked the scrogging as it was jam packed with colas.

I'm currently growing the same strain with 45w cmh psf. idk if that will make a difference to the finishing time. Previous grows with this strain were either 37.5w hps psf or 35w cmh psf and they all were chopped after 10 weeks of 12/12.

Your temps will be fine.... Farmer is really pushing the boat with his though

I didn't have much choice at the time. It was 6'C when I started down there. My first 2 grows were all male. I came across a hemp study from the 1930s that said lower temps = more males. I bought a 2kw convector heater and ran it 24/0 in the middle room. Then I got 4 females from 5 regulars.

With each year of growing down there, the temps went up by about 1'C. Using Planet Earth as a storage heater. No grows down there for coming up to 4 years now so it will be chilly.

Once I realised that they'd grow in the cold I stopped worrying about the climate and bought a 2nd light instead. 1200w @ 0.8gpw beats 600w @ 1.1gpw.

I have a theory that the harder the learning curve is for a grower, the simpler their grow once they're experienced. We all simplify in time but some of us have our grows a lot more stripped down than others.

That's so true how experience often results in simpler yet effective grows. Early-on I did a lot of things with my grows that I've now found to be either redundant, useless or a waste of time.
