Preferably you want a healthy mother that has been fed and is well hydrated. You can strike your cuttings into different mediums, jiffy's, coco, rock wool, root riot's etc. For this guide I'm going to be using rockwool cubes, they are cheap easy to work with and I've managed to get 100% strike success rate.

A few things you will need

Place you cubes into a bowl and run under the tap

Use a cocktail stick to enlarge the hole in the cube

    Nice healthy mother plant

    Make cut just below node

    Trim the node

Trim the stem just bellow where the node was

I like to trim the remaining leaves, helps the cutting retain moisture

Dip the wound in clonex or rooting powder

Insert the stem into the cube around half way

Firm the rock wool round the base of the stem

When your done give them a spray, tap water is fine

Spray the bottom of your prop, I place some wood strips on the bottom, lets any excess water drain away

    Spray inside the prop lid

Place the lid on, make sure vents are closed

Place CFL type light above prop

The light I use is a 45w aquarium light and ballast, it works really well for me with this prop. If you have a heated prop, you DON'T need it switched on in the summer months. Spray the inside of the prop lid twice daily for a week or so and make sure the cubes have not dried out, I lift the tray and gauge the weight, if they are dry I just submerse the whole tray in the sink filled with water then back into the prop.

Thanks for looking folks, we will come back in around 10 days and see how these have done

    Regards BL

Ok folks update, 10 days since i took the cuttings, all have rooted........

    Regards BL

The same as growing especially the root temps in water. So I always tried to keep my easy cloner below 70 F and my air temps a bit higher.

Only one way to find out for sure. I'm willing to bet they will.

Haha true that, I’m looking to take a cutting from one of my Sour Diesels because she’s a beauty. But don’t want to buy the wrong kit for the job

Whoa! sorry being absent......and thanx for all replies!
I should have mentioned i started these in rockwall cubes in a dome.....tap water. under 2 small T4 [or 5] lights. 24 hrs.
After 3-4 days with no result i put them in a glass with tap water....then topped it up with nutrient water.
The bastards look as healthy as fuck!! but rootless!
    ill post some pics soon.

That T5 will work. Take them out of the water and scrape the bottom inch of the stem. Just enough
to get the skin off, then dip in rooting hormone again and back in the rock wool. No nutes.

    Also, Be patient.

    start to finish reply.
I pretty much have the same setup and procedure for cloning. Have two - 24 watt T5's (4000 lumens), and a heating pad for the winter. I try to keep my grow medium temperature a little higher (between 75-80 degrees) with the heating pad than the air temperature in the dome (65-75 degrees.)
