    Default Light meter

Can anyone recommend a good one?

I’ve never needed one before so I don’t know much about them.

Everything I’ve looked at on Amazon has bad reviews.

Surely the phone apps are a gimmick?

A $30.00 to $40.00 dollar lux meter from Amazon will do you alright. A good par meter would cost hundreds.

Unless you spend some big bucks you are gonna have to make some sacrifices and probably work with a lux meter rather than a par meter

the Urceri mt-912 is the one I bought £22 on amazon and its pretty decent, batteries dont last long tho I found.

If it's for HPS then a lux meter is fine,if it's for LED however the only accurate way is to use an actual par meter as Lux meters cannot read light in the blue spectrum which LEDs output.

I found a PAR meter for £215+ vat.

It’s more than I really want to spend at the moment. Christmas and new light hit me hard and I still need tent, fans etc.

This hobby can be expensive these days.

I will take a look at the Urceri mt-912 and the uni-t

This hobby can be expensive but honestly..it doesn't HAVE to be, more a choice and addiction to new 'grow toys' along the way

An expensive PAR meter is a luxury, but by no means essential for growing.

I will try and find a post Gardro put up about this. I believe you can use tissue paper or something
to diffuse the light and get an accurate reading with a lux meter.

tentbuddy was a decent one, lets you pick your light and shows "par" dli and vpd

Lux is a good one for a straight up lux reading

both are reasonably accurate depending on your phones sensor, not all phones are made equal.
