I would buy an inexpensive lux meter rather then use one of those apps. I guess the cells used in phones just aren't meant for it.

An expensive PAR meter is a luxury, but by no means essential for growing.
    I’ve bought a beast of a light and I don’t run co2.

I’ve never bothered before in 20 years growing on and (mostly) off, but I’ve gotta feeling I’m gonna need at least a lux meter.

Lux meters are affordable..both the Urceri mt-912 and the uni-t would be good options as recommended

Lux is a good one for a straight up lux reading

both are reasonably accurate depending on your phones sensor, not all phones are made equal.
I will check those out, thanks!

I've got an old darkroom photography light meter that I'll dig out when fitting my led. (An Ilford EM10.) I don't care what parts of the spectrum it doesn't read. It will tell me if one area is brighter than others and that's all I need to get the illumination as even as possible.

It will tell you which areas have more and less useable blue light which doesn't always mean brighter though.

Personally I don't bother with them,I try just read the plants as best I can.

This may help someone using or thinking about using a lux meter.

This will explain why Lux meters and phone apps are useless for measuring LED light output.
It's not a link to a forum so should be ok?

I read something similar to this too. Then I seen these Migro videos.

The company who posted similar to what you posted were selling £500+ PAR meters.

Par meters can go all the way up to thousands of dollars. I am pretty sure Gardro posted a way to be able to
use a lux meter. Will try to find it.
