Much better to buy the parts separately sometimes it's cheaper, sometimes not but you always get better gear that will last longer than the package/kits.

    You will need:
    Tent/closet depending on size.
    Light.
    Fan+filter+ducting.
Ratchet hangers or something to hang the light, you will raise and lower the light most likely.
Fan inside grow area(airflow and plant movement build stronger stems/branches)

I live where it's legal to grow but I still run carbon filters as I recirculate the scrubbed air around my house, plus my kids have friends over,I don't bother with a filter for my smoke room that gets vented directly outside.
Light will depend on your space and if you go LED or HPS too small a space and HPS is no good etc..
Okay great information thanks. For the fan should it be blowing on the plant so it’s swaying in the wind a little or is it okay for it just to be near the plant but not directly on it?

A gentle breeze hitting the plant from seedling will give it a great start in life,in flower you don't really want a fan blasting directly at the buds though.

Some great advice above, and as stated most of us have been in your situation. Their are things you can scrimp and save on when growing and things you really can't, especially if you aren't lucky enough to live somewhere where growing weed is legal. But as also stated the money you outlay generally is paid back very quickly when you harvest and no longer have to pay street prices for shitty weed.

You will need to at a minimum get a decent light, an LED with a power draw from the wall of around 300w. You will need a carbon filter and an extraction fan to nullify the smell during flower.

You can upgrade thou as you go along, I started growing with a Mars Hydro 300w LED, in a wardrobe, my first harvest I managed about 8oz off 2 plants. This was enough to stop me paying street prices and then upgrade the equipment.

Goodluck with your first grow, your in a great place for advice on getting the best bang for your buck, and hopefully we can get you to the end of a grow as well
Ok thanks for your advice. I have ordered a better led light and I’m looking at carbon filters and a extraction fan but i think I need to be abit more research on them to buy the correct one. They look quite big and I’m growing in a closet.

Great Thankyou, I only have a big fan right now so I’m gonna have to adjust it so it’s only blowing on the plant slightly.

I plan on upgrading my light within the next few grows, then keeping my current light in a veg tent. As many other have said, invest in a light. From my limited experience theres 3 things you dont want to skimp on, they are:

    1. Light.
    2. Medium.
    3. Genetics.

Each individually can fuck your grow.
Okay thanks mate what is a bobo never heard of it
