Hip shot here, and this goes contrary to the bennie crowd, but I use DIY clear rez. Crystal clear, no stink. My issue is reservoir temps. I am too dumb to go bennie route, so went sterile route. Had that happen exact same way, one day after fill, stinky/cloudy. Emptied, cleaned with bleach, same thing next fill. Added solution and clear within a day. Blasphemy to some I know, but 2c delivered..

No smell at all! Can't find the product you mentioned. Who makes it? A lot of stuff popped up but nothing categorical. Thanks Domo.

Yes sir. Have an aquarium pump running 24/7. Just had a check to make sure it's still funcitonal and I'm getting plenty of surface agitation.

    Cheers boys.

Do you have a circulation pump? I am no expert on this subject but have read plenty of posts were folks have said that has solved their problem.
Maybe I'm way off base but thought it worth a mention.

Yeah mate. If you check out the first pic, you can see the big pump for fertigation that's green and then the little black box is circulating. It's never been off.

This stuff here, used for cloner boxes. My reservoir temp is probably 74F on average, obviously not ideal. Guy at the local store had me try it initially. Looked into it further, stumbled upon debated discussion on sterile vs beneficial bacteria for such conditions. Basically swimming pool shock, actually is.. Safe Chlorine in tap water is 4PPM, this is less. Less the debate about whether you should aerate tap water for a few days to rid of said 4PPM's is whole other thing. Short and curly is that until kiddos are out of house, or until I buy an expensive chiller (not likely), this is how I will probably deal with my sub-optimal environmentals. That said, respect for those who deal with it in a natural way.

BTW, is that tub non-permiable to light? If not, let me tell you about the cutest little 10gal Brute trashcans! No actually (never knew this), they start at 10gal (I have one for handwater rez, b4 going auto) and have a few sizes between that and the mega 44gal. Apparently bonafied for aquarium enthusiasts too from whatI have learned.

Good luck either way. Mine got stinky along with cloudy, so if no smell, maybe something else?

Also, not sure if heat from circ pump is anything more than negligible, but if high cfm, maybe intermittent on timer. Would have to check temp with and w/out to verify.

I am running dual airstones only, but thinking about replacing with intermittent circulation waterfall contraption. Still need to read up on it a bit more though..

Just did a check, res is at 73F as is the room. That's not terribly out of wack I don't think.

Not that it amounts for much, but I'd run it and just keep an eye out for colonies, stinky smells or ill effects.

Checked in on the res this morning and it's perfectly clear. Glad the issue is gone, sucks that I don't understand the scenario.

That's great news! Forgot to ask where your pH was. Sometimes changes in pH will trigger weird chemical reactions...more so when pH is too high.
