I used to get fantastic results with paper towel, like almost 100% success then it just stopped working for me,now I soak the seeds for 24hours then into solo cups with moist coco.

Sounds like the paper towels changed. Maybe they replaced a bleaching agent or something.

coco/peat mix in a peat cup in a clear plastic cup covered by a clear plastic cup on a heat mat.

Dry seed to sprout in 3 days, consistently.

    Cheers

I remember, a few year back, a problem with the chemicals they used in the bleaching process & germination... but I'm sure it's an issue already delt with somewhere?

...why 2 clear cups? I sow non-cannabis seeds with soil in a clear cup inside an opaque cup. I'll pull out the clear cup to see how the roots are doing then back into the opaque cup for the darkness.

I leave mine on the kitchen bench. Apperntly it is 8c outside.... when I go to bed it may hit around 12-14c in the kitchen. It's cheaper than a heat mat LOL

I've done the same in the kitchen. The c/h keeps the room temps to at least 20'C. They took 6 to 7 days to sprout. Under the cmh, the fastest sprouts came up in 60 hours.
Yep, the beans in my current diary were up in 3 days. I think as long as the seeds are in a medium that’s warm and moist, if they’re viable, they’ll germinate.
Some seeds don’t pop simply because they are duds and not down to the growers chosen method of germinating them.

Interesting to see this thread roughly split down the middle between the pre-soakers and the non pre-soakers. The good news is everyone’s having a pretty good success rate.

I soak mine in tap water for 24 hours then into damp kitchen roll and into a plastic takeaway tub and then that goes into a hat and then in a drawer in my living room as the unit isn’t far from the radiator, then within 48 hours they are ready to plant, I have only had a few that haven’t worked this way, think they were Mephisto which was gutting, I thought I would plant a fastbuds chemdawg straight into soil the other day and the bastard didn’t even pop it’s head through the soil, no doubt it’s my fault so think I’ll be sticking to the other method in future

I soak mine for 24 to 36 hours in a cup of water on top of the fridge. Then I put mine directly into whatever growing medium I'm using with a little plastic cup over them.
