I don't watch much sportsball but I've been reading a bunch of headlines that seem to think the games are a disaster! From flooding dorms, problems with food service, dangerous conditions, and terrible judging.

Starting to see a pattern with Olympic hosts and how they treat their citizens leading up to the games also. I don't know guys. I'd rather tune into the X Games if I'm going to watch extreme sports. Not to mention the winter olympics is the gangly dim-witted step sister of the summer olympics in my opinion.

They nailed the medals this year, however!

I feel for those athletes that worked their entire lives just to sleep on rock hard beds in flooded dorms and get robbed by partial judges in unsafe conditions. Truly.

    Cheers

I personally enjoy the winter Olympics. Has far as dorms flooding and such, there is always something wrong with the dorms and food service.

Being in China this year, did anyone expect them to go off without a hitch.

Ah...another Olympics fan. I watch the Summer but prefer the Winter Olympics. LOTS of speed in some of the Winter Olympics competitions.

If you haven't done so go to YouTube and watch some of the GoPro clips for bobsledding or down hill skiers. It'll freak you out. Skiers can hit speeds in the 80 mph and bobsledders in the 75-90 mph range. Extremely dangerous sports.

I think it would be better if everyone had to use the same equipment, don't think it's right that a country can basically pay for an advantage. I thought the Olympics was supposed to be about the best human athletes, not who can afford the best tech.

I doubt that any competitor is at a disadvantage because they don't have the latest and greatest equipment. I'm sure all countries and sponsors provide their athletes with whatever gear they prefer and spare no expense.

There are weight standards too for certain events regarding gear/equipment. For example, bobsleds/sleds have combined weight limits and sled weight limitations to even-out the playing field.
