    Default Upgrading to AC Infinity

I have a old iPower 6" exhaust fan and filter in my Gorilla 3' x 3' x 7' 11" tent. I've had it four years or better and it's always been a POS. Noisy China junk. At different rpm points it will bang around and sounds like its going to explode. Not to mention it's huge and heavy and takes up a ton of space in the top of my tent. I thought now is the time to upgrade the exhaust system while I'm upgrading my HLG lighting. The only thing I skimped on when building this setup was the exhaust. I knew it would bite me in the long run. So now it's time to pay the piper. So I ordered a 6" T6 and carbon filter. Not the unit with the Bluetooth controller. I'm going to pull the iPower unit out and setup the new AC Infinity blowing into the carbon filter and set it on top of the tent with just a short bit of 6" flex duct needed. This will free up a ton of space in the top of my tent making the long legged sativas a joy to grow now. The instructions said to use the prefilter sleeve as a liner inside the filter for the config I'm using. Looking at that it becomes apparent that is BS. That will never work right. So I asked the wife if she would sew one end closed on the prefilter thus turning it into a bag filter. Looks like that is going to work great! Slip the bag filter into the carbon filter, put the fan unit in and it all fits together very nicely. Two self tapping screws and near perfection with no bypass for the prefilter and no leaks at the joint.

Certainly a creative solution. I'm sure AC Infinity would protest but let's see how she goes ehh?

Hey psy, that colander in the back there. I have the same one. It's at least older than I am and my wife and I have no recollection where it came from.
It's a univeral piece of kitchen hardware dating back generations!

    Cheers

Hey a bit off topic but its been nagging at me, but is your username pronounced ‘pussy’ or ‘sigh’?

Regarding your threads topic, I have the 6” carbon filter hooked up to a vivosun fan. It works very well and im glad I made the purchase. Just one thing, if you’re tying in the filter to pipe, the size is a little irregular, which makes it a pain in the dick to tie in. If youre buying the ac fan, it should slide right in, if not, you may want to consider doing filter->flex->fan->flex.

Also, if height is an issue consider putting your filter on the outside of tent, clears up all kinds of room. I like the idea of keeping as much shit out of the tent as possible.

This setup is in there instructions and they tell you to put the sleeve inside the filter for Blow through application. I just had the wife sew one end of the sleeve closed so there would be no bypass at all. I will be glad to chat with AC Infinity about it and go over there blower curve if they would publish one like they should. If you know somebody at AC Infinity I would like to have a look at there multi speed fan curve. The last 30 years of my working career was pumps, blowers, boilers and controls as a manufactures rep. Mathematically pumps and blowers are the same. Only difference is air is thinner water. The iron laws of physics don't change. It's best to run them in the config I'm using. We call that inducing head and keeping the pump on the curve be it open or closed loop and properly loaded which stops cavitation and other issues. It will also run quieter this way and move more air with less rpm because the suction side of the pump is less restricted thus the blower is properly loaded. I'll call them in a bit and see if they have a curve. First rule of pumps is pumps pump. If they were good at sucking they would call them suckers. We have several of those old colanders this one my wifes grandmother used. It's missing a leg. But the wife keeps it on the counter to remind her of that grandmother. She uses two other old aluminum colanders that my grandmothers used and a couple of porcelain coated ones from both our grandmothers. All of them are atleast as old or older than our grandparents. They are prized processions and used. All three daughters are standing in line to divide them up when we pass.

Nice. I like mine, bet the fan is quiet too. Hey bud, you may wanna ask around on here about the spider farmer ones, i think theyre quiet. Iirc riot won one not too long ago, or he bought one. Can’t remember. Anyway, SF is a sponsor on here, they’d probably throw you a discount and save you a few bones. Either way post up some pics of your new rigging when youre done

Called AC Infinity yesterday. They do have a fan curve and the support person said they would email it to me. But as of this morning I still haven't seen it yet. He said it was a pressure in inches of mercury and cfm which is what it should be for a fan/blower. If I don't receive it I will call them back Friday. I hope they don't come back and say we don't share our curves after they said they would send me one.
