    Default Mainlining Clones

    Hi

    Anyone know about mainlining clones?

From what I understand i have to even out the offset branches as the upper one is usually dominant. But I have clones where either the opposing branches are about same thickness, fine I suppose i will just bend these. But I also have at least one where the lower branch is thicker, pic below. So, should I try to even these out by super cropping the lower branch instead?

    Thank you

To main line you want to really soften up the branches pinching them round and round all up and down the length you're trying to bend. It doesn't really matter if they offset, you're simply going to pull them down as low as you can and some even wind them around the pot down low.

The main thing that makes main lining useful is as you soften the branches to bend them they grow back thicker and thicker. This allows the flowers on those branches to get larger and the plant can usually hold itself up better with thicker branches.

So when you're doing it right the branches are softened up so much that they can pretty much just rest by laying on the soil. You'll have to tie them down because they'll just spring right back up again in a couple days if you don't.

    Hi Jingo,

like super cropping to create the mainline? Never tried it before, would I bend at a point on each side that would have the two opposite stems now forming a horizontal manifold with a bit of a 'v' in the middle where they offset stvthe stem, rather than straight across as it would be if I was using an immature plant?

    Thanks.
