You mentioned your light being at 75% power at 18 inches.

Have you done any calculations for PAR and/or DLI according to the light you have? Only asking because burning autos under LEDs is something I've mastered and hope to help others avoid it if possible.

Cheers and best on your grow.

    Hey barney

Your orange sherbet bud looks ace mate.

When plants where in seedling lamp was at 50% 22-24'' but like I mentioned over the week orange sherbet just exploded in growth so it was at 18", so I did pull the lamp a tad higher and the light was set to 75% literally few days ago, my lamp is Mars hydro ts1000, but I didn't do any calculations cause I won't lie im an amateur and just learning as we go, this is my second grow so I don't even know how to measure PAR or DLI don't even know what that is to be honest ?? I just followed what was mostly mentioned on Mars hydro guides :
    Germination: 24"-30"
    Seeding: 24"
    Veg: 18"-24"
    Bloom: 12"-18

You're in good company. My first and second diary are under a TS1000. It's a hell of a value light imo. It's still being used across the office in my veggie tent

So how big is your tent? I may be able to help having some similar hardware in play.

    Cheers

Thank you buddy, my tent is ac infinity CLOUDLAB 844 which is 4x4 ( 120cm x 120cm) once I gather some spare money I will try to upgrade my lamp to FC3000 which should cover pretty much my whole tent

    Thanks

BTW Barney keep in mind I have 3pots making triangle so the centre of the light is hitting blank spot (where pots connect) Click image for larger version.

That's a really nice tent. Your light is def a bit small for 16sqft. I've seen numbers suggesting between 30-35 watt per sqft. Just something to think of.

I'm currently growing in a 4x4 tent using a Mars Hydro light. I would recommend the FC4800 in that space. The spread is a dream! I wouldn't turn my nose up at the FCE4800 either if you're a Mars man.

I've been growing under the FCE-3000 in a 1mx1m and don't think the Bridgelux diodes are anything to scoff at. Others will disagree with the maker or the chips but I've yet to hear someone (besides that one fella) say that the plants I'm growing under them are subpar. They aren't. They just aren't.

If you're unhappy with the height differences of the plants you can always use some boxes to even them out btw. You can see the shenanigans I get up to in the background here.

You may want to try to avoid spreading your plants to the edge of that 4x4. Lots of space in there and that light, from my actual experience, is best suited for the .8 x .8 tent.

    Cheers. Let's keep in touch.

Damn why I didn't thiught about raising my smaller plants higher lol, I do keep my plants in the centre of the tent definitely no way to and need to out them closer to edges, before I had 1 plant so that lamp was spot on but with more plants especially in bigger pots it won't do, I've heard that Samsung leds on those FC3000 are solid, you sure it wouldn't be sufficient for my space? That fc4800 looks great but bloody pricey beast hehe

Its a bit heftier, yes.The FC3000 in a 4x4 is only pushing 18.75 watts per square feet. And you may get away with it on 24/7 autos but your spread will suffer considerably from the smaller footprint. Again, I'm rocking both the FC and the FCE series. If the Bridgelux lights are rubbish, then why isn't the flower? They (Samsung diodes; both LMB and the H)do have better efficacy, however. Cheaper to run by a bit. Not sure it's enough to really notice on a month's bill doing some quick math but over time, as maths work, it will be the "cheaper" option eventually albeit with a higher entry cost.

The spread man. Consider that footprint. Being able to grow from wall to wall and really using the whole space. (See V8's 1x1 under the SE5000 or Dan 2506 who is able to put a SE7000 in a 4x4. No way they'll be able to run that light full open, but they will have a really good light spread even in the deepest corners. More bang for your buck!

When I was helping my BIL set up his tent, he was shocked at the investment I suggested. So I asked him about his goals. Here's how it played out basically. I told him that a 1 gram per watt grow was pretty typical if not easily managed. He wanted 500 grams per cycle instead of 100 grams per cycle so he ended up getting a much bigger light and now his wife hates me.... But his first harvest was a good'n. He's set. He's paid for that light in one go. (FCE4800 btw)

I'd try to think of it not as an extra 100 dollars or 200 dollars. Try to think of the return on your time. 3 months from seed to pipe... 4 cycles a year. 2000grams a year vs 1200? And that's with no breaks and no grows that mess up.

I'd tell you the same with any company's grow light, not just MH. Nothing is worse than hanging a whole lot of weed that makes you unhappy after a significant chunk of your year.

My mentee a couple doors down has a 4x4 and the TS3000. We've been having a hard time getting her nugs to tighten up. In her smaller tent with a better matched light, she's crushing it. So then, I've personally seen a 300 watt MH LED fail to provide proper light to a 4x4 tent. Thought the TS has worse spread than does the FC(E)3000.

Sorry for the wall of text.

So after lst some of the fan leaves are touching soil is this an issue?
