This reminded me of a YouTube video I watched the other day about Japanese Ruby Roman grapes.
They take growing to another level, if they can do this with fruit imagine what their weed would be like

This is the first year we've seen clusters on our Moscat. Pretty pumped.

Do you ever see a bunch of ants on the very tips of your grape vines? Then spiders make webs and gorge a bit... It's gross.

    Cheers

I like all kinds of grapes but fresh Concord Grapes off the vine are by far my favorite. Unique flavor and particularly sweet.

At this point in the rehab project nothing has really been trained yet. I'm going to try and see how the vines grow on their own first given their vigorous growth which I didn't expect. I did do extensive pruning earlier during the arbor construction which probably accounts for the vegetative explosion.

Should be mostly a matter of pest control from here-on. I do not use pesticides. Concords are pretty hardy here in the Northeast, but I've seen them wiped-out by mildews, black rots or Japanese Beetles. Like any other grow you just need to watch-out for common problems.

Quick pic. Vines took-off veg-wise with some 10-10-10 nutrients.

I have some unknown little beasties nibbling on a few grape leaves. Nothing to be concerned with yet.

It's been wicked dry around here this summer but I kept my vines sprinkled. I gave my vines one last trim while there's still some growing season left. Until now I let them grow-out on their own to establish a growth pattern their first year on the arbor. Next spring I will carefully select which runners to keep to produce grapes and which get snipped.
