    Question Any Electrians around?

Hey guys, can anyone help me out?
I received a letter from my landlord saying they need to replace my Electrical consumer unit (fuse board). It will take approximately 8 hours, so will be without power most of said day, luckily I'm doing Autos.
However I was wondering, will they need access to all the plugs, to do checks or something? If so I'm going to have to try and hide the tent, ffs.

They shouldnt need to have access to anything but the fuse box. They should be able to tie everything in right there. They may want to check that youre getting power to all your outlets, so access to all rooms may be needed. Depending on laws in your area, you may want to make plans to move tent for the day. If you opt to conceal in your home in a closet, make sure there is not a crawl space in the ceiling or wall they may need access to for any reason. I say play it safe.

He may decide to do an inspection of the electrics while he's got someone in already, check all sockets etc

Thanks Stokes, I thought so. Looks like I'll have to take it down, i don't have anywhere to put it whilst up. And might be a bit suspicious with sheets thrown over it.
What a pain in the balls, I just got it reset as well.

They will need access to every single socket, or they can't sign off the job

    Sorry mate

The joys of not owning your home.
A pain to do, but I'd rather do it than risk having my door kicked in. I can put the plants outside, just hope I don't end up with bugs afterwards.

I'm a sparky mate. Like MC said. if they are doing a proper job they will need access to all sockets, lights etc to test the installationand sign it off once they have finished the Consumer unit change.
