Question Do pistils mature even after the harvest?

Greetings, I have two plants in my tent, autoflowers and they are in late flower. Majority of hairs are white, some are brown/purple. Trichomes are 90% cloudy I'd say, you can still see some clear trichomes now and then. My friend keeps telling me to harvest them, that he harvests when it's 50/50 white/brown hairs and that then turn brown and mature later, otherwise if I harvest later with all brown it would loose its cannabinoids and be degraded and weaker.

I suspect it's not accurate but given how adamant he was I figured asking here wouldn't be a bad idea.

Once you harvest, the plant stops growing & maturing

Sounds to me like your friend is getting pistals (hairs) and trichomes confused. If they are harvesting when the plant is showing 50/50 White / Brown hairs then they’re at risk of harvesting way too early. But they are correct that white hairs will turn brown during drying but this doesn’t mean the plant is maturing. The only way to check if the plant is ready for chopping is to check the trichomes and ignore the pistals. 50/50 cloudy / amber trichomes is okay, might be a little heavy. But once chopped the trichomes do not change colour.

If you've grown too close to your led light then the plant keeps pumping out new pistils/foxtails which can make choosing a harvest time tough.
