Hello good folks of the Talk. It's been too long!

Asking for a friend this time...he's growing some autos outdoor in Spain and keeps having a strange thing happen. See the picture.

Third grow I think it's happened to him. All mixed genetics so can't even pinpoint a shitty breeder. Nothing untoward about the soil, pH fine, watering cycle fine, no direct sunlight, wind is pretty constant but light, lovely 25°C temps and roughly 50% rh. He currently has another 5 or 6 similar seedlings in surrounding pots and they're all flying but he seems to keep experiencing the odd "floppy" The exact same has happened on previous grows.

Has he just been unlucky with genetics? Dry patch in the subtrate? Is his dog "nosing" the odd seedling (this is my hunch, he has a brute of a pitbull )

Any thoughts or previous experiences much appreciated. ATB...Name: IMG-20220614-WA0000.jpg

I'm going through A ruff spell myself. Having just about anything I plant not grow very well, reason unknown, guess it is just part of growing. Hope fully it will all pass someday and will get back on right track.

    Just seen this might help

Why are my seedlings falling over and dying (and how to fix it)?

Using the wrong type of soil – Solution: Always use a quality seed starting medium or peat pellets for growing seeds. Don’t use regular potting soil or garden soil. And never, never reuse any of your soil or pellets.

Equipment wasn’t sterile – Solution: Disinfect all dirty seed trays, plastic cells, dome lids, and plastic pots by soaking them in a solution of one part bleach to nine parts water. Get step-by-step instructions for how to disinfect seed starting equipment here.

Not enough ventilation – Solution: Remove the plastic dome lids once the seeds have germinated. Keep an oscillating fan blowing over the seedlings to ensure proper ventilation.

Soil kept too wet – Solution: Don’t water your seedlings if the soil is already wet or soggy. Don’t allow the containers to sit in water for extended periods of time. Use a soil moisture gauge so you know when to water.

Watering from the top – Solution: It’s best to water your seedlings from the bottom by pouring water into the tray, and allowing the soil to absorb the water from the bottom. Empty any water that hasn’t been soaked up after 30 minutes.

Easy-T has it covered. I've only seen this when I left the humidity dome on for about a week, thinking I was helping the seedling along.

Could also be hydrophobic soil or something eating the seedlings roots.

Looks like the end result of "damping off", meaning to much humidity. If possible get a fan on them very soon after sprouting, may not need a humidity dome at all depending on your environment.

My guess is the plant's transpiration has been affected by too much water/moisture somewhere. The seedling continues to grow under this condition, gets top-heavy, then collapses.

If that seedling was upright, it would be very leggy.

Maybe add more media to future seedlings as they stretch?
