Default Auto to Photo what do I do different?

    Hi all,

    Just a quick ask.

Almost 2 successful auto grows and onto my next grow (hopefully I'm timing this right )

I understand the lighting side of things (so 18/6 for the first 4-5 weeks or as long as needed in veg then 12/12 to flower). Also know I need to probably do germinate > 2l pot > 12l pot rather than into the final pot straight away. Lastly I know I need to adjust neuts (which should be easy)

Other than that is there anything else I need to watch going from auto to photo? Growing in coco as I did with the autos so all that should be broadly the same.

    Cheers in advance

Remember that there has to be 100% darkness during lights off for a photo. No Led from humidifyers. No zipper light leaks. Total darkness. Light leak can make the plant hermie out and create seeds.

Other then that 18/6 or 24/7 light during veg and the day you want to flip to flower you swap to 12/12.

It’s all the same mate, the photo period is the only difference.

Just take into account how big you want the plants to be & veg accordingly.

There's plenty of workable lighting options with photos. What's best is what is most convenient for you.

I veg photos at 12/12. With a 6w household led 24/0 to stop them flowering. When it's time to flip them, all I have to do is unplug the 6w led. That doesn't work well with autos. Guess how I know that?

With passive hydro, there's no point to starting them in a smaller pot. Unless there is a logistical problem that necessitates doing that.

    Cheers.

LOL I'm still working on the size thing This grow is being a massive learning experience. I've either LST'd it too big for the tent or it's going to be overstretched and produce airy popcorn buds or it's going to be an absolute monster (for me anyway not on the scale of some people on this forum). Or it might be a mix of all 3 . I bet you can guess which one I hope it is!

I have a digital timer, changing the timer takes seconds thankfully.

No logistical issue. Well maybe not. My current grow outgrew its current tent in week 8 from seed - as long as I can get this plant to choppy choppy stage before the next one outgrows the little tent I'll be golden as the little tent is also the drying tent. As I'm entering week 8 proper with this grow I don't think it's going to take me another 8 weeks to harvest it.

    Thanks again

    MJ

Issues are likely to arise that you haven't seen or experienced before. I'm sure you'll do fine...just ask the questions when needed and I'm sure you will get plenty of indirect mentoring.

If you can grow autos you will have no problems with photos imo. You deal with the Same issues only the timeline isn't as consensed . I think you will thrive
