I use Shogun for my few grows but I'm looking to branch out a bit. Not because they're bad (I've had good results with my couple of grows) but others are having as good/better success and paying less. Paying less is always good

I also REALLY don't like Shoguns labeling - in fact I'm 99% sure they break the law so there's that too.

The water out of my tap has an EC of 0.6-0.7 (yeah, hard enough to give you constipation lol), so no calmag added in my coco grows using the Canna line.

So very much depends on growers background EC I'd say

I use rain water so ec is 0.06. I use calmag to put it around 0.3 ec before adding a and b. I do that until I flush at the end of flowering

Growers like to tinker with nutrient regimes because that is the easiest part of a grow to tinker with. imo, the brand of nutrients used makes as little difference as the brand of fuel used in a commuter car. Go for economy and convenience and you haven't made a mistake. Of course there can be outliers. eg. the Hesi curse with hard tap water. (Anyone remember the new improved Shell fiasco?)

I used the lucas formula with passive hydro for 20 years. Whatever the strain, they all got the same mix from day 1 to the day before harvest. Ain't no picky feeders with the lucas formula. There being picky feeders with some nute regimes suggests to me that the mix used is close to being wrong to start with.

I'm now using Mega Crop. At a higher dosage than most MC users. It works. With future grows I may try a weaker dosage to see what happens. Either way, all plants will get the same mix from day 1 to the day before harvest. In the unlikely event of a strain not taking to Mega Crop, I won't grow that strain again. There's plenty of other strains to choose from.

Only reason I brought up the CaMg is because I haven't had to use any in my current 2L grow. Usually I'd see deficiencies by now. Not saying it won't happen tomorrow, just saying SO FAR.

@ Farmer Geddon - You were doing 1.5/L for the full grow right? From this grow, with tiny tiny roots, It's only in the 3rd week of flowering that I've had to increase the EC to 1.4/L with a helping portion of .4/L of Bud Explosion. Would probably just go 1.6 or 1.7 if it were only base.

All that to say, the labeling on the package seems pretty suitable. That's a rarity as we're all comfortable with starting low and raising it over time... except you of course. You're a maverick.

    Cheers

1.5g/L of Mega Crop from the day they were potted up. The last grow was 3 different auto strains and uncured tester smokes were a bit harsh but not what I'd call a lung buster. I'm a few grows ahead so they'll be fully cured by the time I run out of the Jacky White I chopped early January.

ime, having a stable pH is far more important than tailoring the ec to be a 'less is more' nute regime. I'll go as far as to say that most if not all 'burn' problems are down to the pH being out of range. imo, adding acid to a nute mix invites problems as the pH is going to start drifting almost as soon as it is mixed. I've had the lucas formula go 10 days in the nute res without the pH changing. Probably the same for Mega Crop but I haven't bothered testing that.

Never needed it... my background EC is 0.5 (If that helps?)

Never had to use it before but since I’ve moved to a different area I have had to start using it. You can buy coco A&B for soft and hard water area
