    Default Air pump an stones

Am using a dwc system just seeing if this is a good pump an stone to use. Got 8 pots so would this be powerful enough. The pump am using now is not very good. On my last grow my air stone ended up in the middle of the roots instead of on the bottom of the pots. Click image for larger version.

I don't know much about this subject. My guess is the pump is more than you need but not always a bad thing. Appears to be a good quality product used in septic systems and ponds.

If you buy an undersized pump your grow will crap out right when it starts to flower. I think at an absolute minimum you want to pump to put out is 10 l O2 per minute per bucket. I always went for 15 liters per minute myself. I don't know how much that pump puts out but I suspect it's way too weak to run eight pots.

Remember when buying a pump they will give you the highest ratings the pump can put out under perfect conditions. So your actual output will probably be less. That's probably why I always like to pump rated at least 15 l per minute per bucket.

I just saw the pumps rated output and that should be sufficient. I haven't used those round discs before, what you're really looking for is the smallest possible bubbles. That gets the most dissolved oxygen to your plants.

i use hailea aco 9730 pumps they kick out 60 littres/min, and have a 10 outlet manifold.
i use 8 of the lines in 4 buckets, so 15litre/minute.
i just use the cheap golf ball stones and change them out every 3 grows as they are like sponges for pathogens

I have used the air stone a few times, worked really well but you have to weight it down.
