Is 12/12 OK for Autos?

I believe that it would depend on how much light they are getting durring lights on. If your lights are really intense then they should be fine. I have never grown an auto 1212 from the start but I have switched to 1212 a few weeks in and still got a nice yield.

I remember there was a thread on the forum where we were discussing this and it's an interesting topic - DLI for autoflowers


A snippet quote of my post there (that DLI was just used as an example) ;

For example, 15 hours of light @ 750 PPFDs would give us a DLI of 40.50 ..that could turn the whole " we can't go lower than 18 hours with autos" completely on it's head if it were to work perfectly fine

Can you remember the lux or PPFDs you were giving the plants during this 12/12 schedule and how much she yielded CD?

Not really Ice. You know my memory sucks. I believe it was a CJ in 5 gallons of soil that I put directly under it's own 315CMH so it was probably getting around 950 PAR. I had a fan on the bulb to keep canopy temps cool. I recall filling one jar so about 4 oz dried with all stems removed. Cheers mate.

This would tie in with my theory I posted in the DLI thread ;

Of course this could go into the extremes too, how about 11 hours of light for autos @ 1000 PPFDs giving us a DLI of 39.60 (obviously would need C02 supp)...now I'm not saying we SHOULD do this, but with what we know about DLI, then these numbers could work (on paper) lol.

So with your information it sounds like it does work just fine...exciting stuff in my opinion!

Your making me think I need to grow and auto this run just to try. I'll dunk a bean when I am ready to flip to 1212. I'll reach out to George and see if he can spare a CJ. If I'm gonna grow an auto it should be my favorite sativa.

Remember... I had 2-3 weeks of veg under 24/0 before moving into the 1212 room. This time it will be straight to 1212 which might be significantly different.

My current light situation isn't the best. I'm going to double-up and buy a second one very soon, though.

Would like your opinion Ice. George has 1 CJ seed left which he of course is happy to share. George is suggesting that I run his Anesia Seeds Rainbow Donut Auto instead since there is a diary due for the freebies. While I am happy to grow this delicious looking strain I think that CJ would give us a better baseline since we have a lot of existing CJ data. I average 4oz in 5 gallons for CJ and lots of others on the forum have grown it. Thoughts?
