Hey all brand new here just thought id say high! My names Nelly. I run a UK cannabis news and media website which also covers events, activism, guides and hoping to start a podcast soon so looking to possibly interview some people from here.

Nope she is (was?) serious. Do a search for her name and you'll see a link on another forum to her advocacy site (I'll not name it but it's trivial to find).

It's bold considering the climate in the UK and the fascist government we have in place who have made abundantly clear cannabis isn't going to get decriminalised let alone made legal this century if they have any say in it.

Site seems well done and well supported at the moment but it's not something I'm interested in openly supporting. Maybe if I didn't have to worry about the impact of going to jail I'd be more bold and open but sadly it's not going to happen in the UK. Credit for giving it a go and the whole activism side of it I wholeheartedly support.

Regardless of the legal status of cannabis in the UK, this site is not here to promote her, or make her money - she does not pay our bills! People like this are parasitic in my eyes

I wasn't defending their post just merely stating it wasn't a joke.

As for your patronizing PS, I know exactly what fascism is but I'm wondering if you do? Allow me to copy from wikipedia

"Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation and race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy"

I'm not going to go into the topic in any depth and why much of it applies to the UK as I have nether the time nor inclination to do the subject justice in a forum on cannabis.

That said even a basic Google search of "UK fascism conservatives" turns up countless articles and opinion pieces from the past 5 years detailing what some see as the slow decline into fascism under the current conservative government. Many of those articles go into considerable detail giving examples against each of the topics above.

Still don't believe me? Even sitting MP's are concerned enough about it to discuss fascism in the House of Commons. Check out SNP MP Mhairi Black's speech in the HoC in May (youtube) where she eloquently points out fascism "happens subtly". It also seems we have admirers from the wider world of politics too in the form of the leader of Italy's far right Brothers of Italy party, strongly suggested to be Mussolini's followers, who says she "likes the Tories". Clearly THAT right wing fascist likes what she sees.

So if anyone "need(s) to re-look at the definition of the word 'fascist'" I suggest it's you. Either that or you need to pay far closer attention to what's going on around you.
