I meant the pledge to keep the cap at £2500 for two years now ends in April. At which point who knows what the price increase will be. They could double it again.
    Ah dang it. Sorry.

The "cap" thing is weird because it's not related to usage but standing charges, AFAIK. And it's not a "cap" as in "go beyond and you still only pay at the capped figure". Look up with Money Saving Expert says. He explains better than I can, and the channel is on YT.

"The new Energy Price Guarantee will fix unit rates for domestic customers. Energy prices for suppliers will still continue to change, but the government will be paying the excess instead of customers.'

The support is designed to extend to households in all circumstances, including those who will not receive the previously announced £400 discount on electricity bills.

The reductions will come on unit rates rather than standing charges
, which will stay as set by Ofgem for October 2022."

This was taken from the Which? webiste. Sounds like the cap is on usage, not standing charges.

Even if that was true, a twenty five hundred pounds a month bill is surely only for just a selected few, or businesses?

IMO, way too good to be true, or we are heading undeniably directly towards the Very Big C in terms of finance related -isms.

BTW, my rates and standing charges aren't that different from yours. It sure sux.

2500 a year, not a month. But yeah, not looking good at all, for any of it.

I always cringe when I hear the phrase "The Government will pick up the bill". Many people see this as a get out of jail free card which it certainly is not. The Government does not have any money of its' own to play with.
Their options for raising cash are very limited.

    1. They can borrow more money with interest from the privately owned Bank of England increasing the already massive Public debt. That debt will always be paid for sooner or later by taxing the hard-working citizens of the UK or any other Nation.
    2. They can raise income tax and pay the excess to the Energy Suppliers.
    3. They can keep income taxes at current levels but allocate more of that revenue to pay the Energy suppliers which means less will go to maintaining and expanding the infrastructure i.e. less money for schools' hospitals roads etc.

In other words, it is always the citizens who will pay the price.
The Banksters know that the current debt based monetary system is unsustainable so they plan to abandon it entirely in the near future and replace it with Central Bank Digital Currency.
These CBDC are not money be it debt- based or wealth based and it's very important we all understand that. The videos below explain how this new system will operate and it should chill you to the bone.
Under the present system we are all indentured slaves labouring to pay a debt that can never be repaid but under the CBDC system we will all just be slaves.
The only way out of this mess is to revert to wealth-based money where every Nation will print their own currency. Since you can't lend yourself money there will be no Income Taxes now what sane person wouldn't welcome that?
