    Default DiY Carbon Filter?

I was about to pay £70 for a carbon filter and decided to see if it could be 'rednecked' and came across this article. It seems like a pretty straight forward task.

What are thoughts on this? Will it even be worth doing for the smell (the plant is now at the front of the house, so I need to do something)

A reputable carbon filter in the right situation (paired with proper sized fan with negative pressure in your room/tent) works flawlessly.

I have used mountain air and a vortex carbon filter. Both worked perfect. No smell

Every carbon filter i have purchased worked well. I go way past the use by dates by washing with a hose outside and giving a week in the hot sun with daily rotation to fully dry. I have never seen a noticeable difference between a $60 and a $160. They both clear the area of smell. The larger the filter the better it is at removing odors. As long as it has the appropriate sized blower. I use a 4 foot tall with a 14" blower in my cigarette smoking room and nobody ever smells anything. I go with a mid range canister that has been in business for a long time so I can count on them to honor the warranty that I have never had to use.

I just laughed at read the article... they totally omit the part of the packing of the carbon being key to this... if it's not tightly packed, it won't work... don't have a vibrating table? Probably best to pay the £70!

id go for the higher priced filters, MountainAir if you can afford it,
my last mountainair lasted me over 3 years use

you only get what you pay for, if you buy cheap you'll probably buy twice.....
