    Thumbs down Self-Evaluation

So I got an email from HR with a link.

"Please click here to fill out your self-evaluation"

As in, our yearly review is suddenly a time for reflection??? I'm to give myself a score? Really?

How would you respond? What a racket.

    Cheers

I always gave myself five out of five on all reviews and I kept any pertinent information I had throughout the work year as evidence.

Then when I would wind up in my manager's office and he didn't have any evidence to support his evaluation I would prevail. I was always higher paid than most of the other people I worked with because of that.

Anytime you get praise from a customer of the company, or anytime of boss tells you you've done a good job keep all that. Go into your evaluation in person when it's time with a stack of papers to prove why you're worth more.

5s solid across the board. The questions were extremely vague and I was intentionally short on explanations.

    What a waste.

I first met this in the 90's... and scratched my head a little...

I returned it with everything marked at 100% with the explanation that if I gave myself less than a top score, it meant I wasn't doing my job properly & it was up to the company to identify any weaknesses I had

i am lucky i don't have to deal with crap like that. for me it's more, "you know who i am and what i can do, do you want to hire me or not? because if not there are plenty of other people who do". my self evaluation is "can i be bothered to do this job today"?
i hate how manipulative employers can be these days, they employ their dirty, freudian tactics on innocent people just trying to make ends meet. they turn them into legal slaves through loopholes and conditioning.
jingo is right, 5/5 across the board, they are looking for excuses to blame you for their lack of ability to manage a business properly. good luck with those people, my advice would be take the next exit
