Default Number crunching for electric nerds...

If I were to use a 3.5kw item for 3 minutes (assume domestic UK 230v) & the tariff is 28p/kWh - what would it cost?

...and how are the numbers processed to work it out?

    Wouldn’t that be 3.5kwh @ 28p =98p per hour,

    so 3 mins would be 98/60 =1.63x3 = 4.89 pence ??

    Probably wrong

I should know it off by heart,as that’s all I’m doing these days working out the cost of things, you have to.
Bloody standing charge on top is a massive add also.
Oil company’s making massive profits and government funding to pay for it,absolutely mental. But I won’t get into that

Same as you Beth, the above is part of a power wall project I'm working on... trouble is, gas is bloody cheap compared to electric, so I'm looking at new technologies & trying to convert the costs too

    this is correct.
slightly incorrect, but close enough, the result is 4.9p because 98/60 = 1.6333 recurring, so the annoying flaws of human math theory catch us out and give us disappearing decimals.

    That has to be pre-price-hike.
