    Default What’s going on ?

    Hi,

    I’ve spotted that my two plants have developed weird spots on their leaves. I’ve got them in canna bio soil and I light feed them with canna bio veg and rhizotonic following the guide on cannas web and last feeding I added cal mag 0.5ml per 1L of water.

    I agree with overfeeding. Generally when you repot a plant you won't have to feed for two or three weeks depending on how much larger the pot was you went into. When I use large pots I often wouldn't have to feed for up to four or five weeks .

    You have two options;

    1) would be to flush the pot with about three times as much water as the pot would hold and give a weak feed. I personally wouldn't like this option in your case since you just repotted, it would tend to wash out the good nutrients you want in the soil. When I do flush it's usually when I've been in the same pot for a long time and I know all the nutrients of the original soil were used up.

    2) would be to water heavy each time you water, getting about 30% run off. This will kind of clear out the nutrients you've added without clearing out all the nutrients were already in the soil. You would keep this up until you start to see deficiencies, usually yellowing out of the lower leaves on the plant.

    You're going to have a strange mottled look to it probably for the rest of the grow now I would think. That mottledl look might go away once you get the excess nutrients out and start feeding regular.

    Right I’ll go with option two then so as far as I understood, heavy watering with no nutes until I see deficiencies then start feeding again that right?

    Also should I wait till the soil is dry and then start watering with plain water or do it right away cus I watered them yesterday so the soil is still wet and I don’t want to overwater them but then I don’t want to wait too long cus they might get worse so when would be the best to start watering them ?

    Yes wait for deficiencies to feed. Learn to water by feeling the weight of the pot, usually if its dry two knuckles deep its ready for water.

    Right thank you very much guys for the advice. Now I know what’s what just got the last question and sorry if I’m repeating myself but if I watered and fed them yesterday should I wait till the soil is dry and then start watering again or should I do it right away even tho the soil is still wet after yesterdays watering? The reason I’m asking for it is that I don’t know if they won’t get worst by the time the soil is dry and ready for next watering and if it’s just better to flush them right away even tho the soil is still wet ?

    Canna nutes need to be PH balanced before feeding. Are you adjusting the PH of the feed?

    I would just wait until the next time they need water. They don't look to be so far over fed to where you would have any stunting of growth.
