Default My first SCROG attempt. Comments and advice welcomed!

Hi everybody - I've been growing for several years and was getting fed up of the (relatively) small yield from normal indoor grows - so, my first SCROG. The babies are four Amnesia Lemon Skittlez and they were placed in the grow tent as week-old seedlings third week in September.

Looking ok I think. Fan under the canopy plus above light. HPS600w light.

I am assuming I should I have been more bendy(?!) and neater with them.. Also, I was thinking of reducing to two or three plants next time too. Sorry about sideways picture.

Any thoughts much appreciated!!Click image for larger version.

Hi wilson, looking healthy and some nice buds forming The net will help support them as they get bigger.

In answer to your question yes you could have been a bit more bendy with them, the idea of a scrog is to form an even canopy so that all the buds sites benefit from as much light as possible. I’ve added a few of my pics to give you an idea of what I mean.

In veg train the plant by topping or tying down or both to create as many growing tips as possible.

Then as she grows during later veg and for a week or two after 12/12 keep tucking the branches under the net. (After the final re-pot, obviously. You can’t repot after she’s in the net)

Also defoliate what’s under the canopy, you want all the bud sites above the net.

By the end of the early flower stretch this is what you want, each bud site in full light and an even canopy.

    So they all grow fat…

    Hope that helps fella

Oh yeh and if you crop your pictures just slightly, on you phone before you upload them to the site, they’ll come on the correct t way up

    Vlad

Vlad - many thanks for the help. That is one seriously impressively-trained plant!!!!!
I had four pots which is looking too crowded, so I will reduce this to two 15l fabric pots so I have more room to train the buggers!
    Thanks again.

It might be a bit late but I would recommend you to google Northern scrogger videos. I managed to improve my yields by using his LST technique, correct defoliation, leaf tucking and keeping plant relatively short.

Does a screen have to be 12 inches from the pot or is that the bare minimum?

It's entirely plant specific. Sometimes it needs to be a bit lower, sometimes higher. It's all about how that early growth and node separation goes. Short plant, lower screen, stretchy plant, higher screen.

Shorter plants are usually desirable so you don't need to double screen. If the plant stretches to the gods you have no choice but to double screen or everythings going to collapse on you late in flower without additional support.

Hey Wilson, I too am growing my first scrog so am grateful for your post and relevant questions. Good luck!

What size space are you growing in?

I think you would do better with 1 plant in a short 25l pot. Jmho.
