Thread: Possibly switching to Coco?

  1. Default

I would recommend every grower to try coco at least once, it's a great experience Doink, and these days I enjoy being able to switch between the two at my convenience.

When I made the switch, I think it was Bud who said that I would become a certifiable "coconut" in no time. He's right!

If you view coco as "very leaky soil", it starts to make sense, at least that's how I got it to work. I have pretty much never looked back since.

There is a hugeass 60L back of Jack's Magic or whatever here that I bought just as I was dithering whether or not to make the jump, put it this way, that big bag of soil is still unopened... Like, it's been a year or so now?

If you get the Essentials pH meter, you’ll only need the pH 7 calibration fluid.

As Stokes says fuck fast buds (they are terrible).

I've had this pen previously Jstatus, and if I remember correctly, it uses a 1-point calibration rather than a 2-point calibration.

Could be remembering wrong though as it was years ago now.

It lasted me a reasonable amount of time and gave good results.

Correct only need a single point calibration but you can calibrate to either 4 or 7 dont really matter....I've calibrated @ 7 then tested it in 4 fluid and it was spot on and vice versa...Check it once a month and keep the probe clean of any mineral build up and they last a good while..

Concerning the Ec issue, I've seen MrC is having some problems with his base of 0.6 and it's got me nervous. But I just remembered I have a brita water filter jug lying around somewhere, not exactly an Ro system but maybe better than nothing. Anyone ever tried that?

Good question, I was going to test the water out of my brita but the batteries in the pens are flat. I would say the charcoal in the filter should remove some of the mineral salts thus reducing the Ec...I'll try and grab some batteries tomorrow and do an experiment...Having said that my background Ec is 0.5 with a pH of 7.1 and i've never had any issues..
