Default Question about calculation of leccy usage

I'm running 2x600w HPS through 2x Lumatek Pro ballasts. Obviously the combined bulb output is 1.2kw. Would my total output be 1.2kw for the lights PLUS 1.2kw for the ballasts? Total usage = 2.4kw. Is that correct?

As you can probably gather, I'm not too versed with leccy stuff so go easy on me.

How about grab one of those meter gadgets that tells you straight? They are not That costly and saves you the trouble.

I think the ballasts eat up some juice but IMO my ballpark figure for that would be around 1.3kw.

Bear in mind for daily standing charges by the supplier company, and any variations in rates if you used Economy7 / Economy10 meters, assuming that you're in the UK.

    Thanks Valentina.
So the ballasts don't draw that much? I'm glad to know that.
Trying to figure out why my leccy usage is more than 4 times the national average.

Total current draw would be just for the ballasts not the lamps...So 1200 watts for the 2 ballasts assuming that's what they actually draw from the wall socket..

Thank you Bud. Seems I've been over worrying about the ballast/light combo usage. I'll check out a meter gadget that Valentina mentioned to get a better idea of what's drawing so much leccy for me.

Both your ballasts running full tilt will cost you £4.90 based on 34p per KWh for a 12 hr period...£34.30p per week on 12/12 flower cycle..

Thanks Bud. That might go some way in explaining my four grand per year bill.

I can now be found perusing the LED section...
