This has been discussed a few times here, over the years.

Whilst no one could prove one way or another, the general consensus of opinion was it was a worthless pursuit...

might do 5x straight into soil, and soak another 5 and see....
When I was younger I would take a 600 grit paper to the seed spines. It helped sprouting old seeds. These days I can't hold them steady enough, or they just pop out of my tweezer and get lost. Or I squeeze too tight.

6 years is nothing. I have some 10-15 years old seeds in my fridge. Started 6 packs last year direct into soil with a 90%+ success rate.

Honestly 6 years is nothing. Not that long ago half of the seeds on the marker were already that old. If you buy from legacy breeders like Mr Nice or Chimera or Serious Seeds etc etc they are selling seeds that are already this old and older and they still germ fine.

they are infact from a purchase in 2012, they were BOGOF on attitude 'i checked my account'
i got 8 packets grew one from each strain/packet and kept the other 3 that i really enjoyed smoking,
shortly after Hortilab closed shop in the netherland and the seeds were never available again

i have Bodhi, Dutch passion,Sensi, Reserva Privada that are probably just as old but those seed vendors/breeders are still available, Hortilabs seeds aren't
