    Your flower surface experiences oxidation when left out to dry. You will loose that immediate smell, but it is still there. It's just trapped under your oxidized surface waiting to be released once the flowers are broken into or sweated out during the curing process.

    I think the humidity might have been too high in the cabinet. I cranked up the heat a bit to lower it down to 55rh and spread the buds on a mesh rack. After another day or so they're feeling and smelling better. I think the big buds felt more springy due to some foxtailing I hadn't noticed previously
